BaMMOT 30 years of WMPTE 09 Oct 2016 part one

Post by TimBrown » 20:14 Sunday 9th October 2016

Some pictures taken at BaMMOT Transport Museum, Wythall and Maypole today. I make no apologies for the on road shots of veteran 1107 Daimler COG5 as it will be 80 years old next year and still runs nicely.
Big thank you to everyone involved in organising and running a very interesting day out - even the weather was kind!

Surely it should be called 30 years since the end of WMPTE? Or maybe 30 years of Travel West Midlands?

Either way, nice photos!

My mistake, the heading should be WMPTE 30 Celebrations, marking 30 years since the buses of West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive passed to West Midlands Travel as part of deregulation and privatisation.

I should have realised this as I worked indirectly for West Midlands Travel in 1994? when Metrowest was taken over and operated as Black Country Buses for about twelve months before closure.
