There seems to be some action on 6015 - the front offside wheel is off and it looks like some attention to the brakes is being undertaken - I will try and find out more details tomorrow.
As an aside, there is a Job Swap initiative at First Bus, and one of the things was for a driver to become an engineer for the day, and an engineer to shadow a driver for a day. Guess who won the draw to be a temporary engineer - ME!!
I will see if I can have a look at 6015 and find out what needs doing.
Don't know yet when I will be in the garage for a day - it just depends when they get my size 10 hob nail boots and Guantanamo Bay orange overalls!!!!!
Interesting stuff, thanks bmmoboy ! -

I feel a bit guilty that I haven't offered to do any work on 6015, but I don't have the relevant skills, and I'm sure if someone told me to "undo that nut", or "unscrew that screw", I would (despite my best efforts) end up with a stripped thread, or worse !

- Even just cleaning, I would need to be very confident that I had got the right materials and instructions, so as to avoid doing any damage.

A rare moment today when there isn't something obstructing the view...

This photo was taken two weeks ago but I forgot to post it. Engineers working on 6015, which is having the hubs and brakes overhauled. You can also see the freshly painted wheels which went back to the Museum for refurbishment and fresh tyres.

If you look closely you can see the rear offside window on the lower deck has been removed. This is to provide a sample window rubber, and when a match can be found the whole lot will be replaced.

Thanks very much Adam for the update and photo.

Coincidentally, I've just received the November newsletter from the Transport Museum, Wythall, which confirms your report -- -- the window rubbers alone will cost £1,000 !!

I've recently been to the museum and met Lloyd Penfold who is working on a Fleetline of similar age to 6015.

The dedication, and various skills, of these guys at the museum, is VERY impressive, and it makes me ashamed that I cannot be more reliably useful and practical.

..... MANY THANKS !!

Not only are there wheels on the bus, but it appears they go round and round. 6015 has been out today under its own power, and is now parked over a pit in the main engineering section.

It's now back in its normal spot for the night, but here's a photo from it's brief excursion today.
