LMS ?

Post by DD12 » 15:39 Thursday 25th June 2020

Has anyone seen any buses operating the services that LMS would normally be operating ?

- Surely they are all subsidised by WCC.

There is no information that I can find online.

I am sure that I read that they have furloughed staff and will continue to as long as payments are being made . :?

Apparently the whole fleet was put on SORN in March 2020. One wonders where the revenue will be generated to pay the fixed costs incurred running any coach/bus operation and the long term viability of this operator and many others who took similar drastic action, not to mention the passengers left without means of public transport where these concerns were/are sole provider.

Thanks for those replies gentlemen.

In that case I would say that it's appalling that no info is available online for prospective passengers.
I believe that Adam has pointed-out that the people who might have been expected to put the info online may well have been furloughed ( ... or might even have covid19 !!)

However, one of the major "positives" through the pandemic so far, has been the amount of important info - of any kind - online from virtually all other organisations !

Surely the proprietor of any small bus operation that is contracted to provide services with subsidies should be obliged to put important info on their website, and notify the county council ?

And surely the county council should have someone ( - working from home if necessary)
who should put the info on their travel website ? ( - "LIVE" disruption info, too)

If the small number of previous passengers on these services are "so unimportant",
then why bother to subsidise or restart them ?
- I was surprised at how many services LMS are supposed to be running --https://lmstravel.co.uk/bus-timetables/

I have recently received from the county council, an Ipsos MORI questionnaire about local travel matters, and I shall express my above opinions if I can -- --

so please tell me if I have got any of the above wrong

Quite clearly there must be some members of staff working for the relevant department of the County Council as they have managed to put together a support package to enable the Diamond 303 service to restart operation.

As others have pointed out, the lack of any information on the WCC website regarding these services is appalling. Just when I think WCC can't get any worse in terms of bus service information, this Covid-19 crisis has shown that they can!

I know a few residents on the Droitwich Westlands estate have complained to WCC regarding the loss of the LMS 20 / 20A / 20B service and at least two people on LMS's 39 route have also complained.

I am led to believe that in both cases nobody has had a response as yet.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, LMS operate a surprising number of services and the loss of them leaves a big gap especially to older folk which a lot of their routes are aimed at and cater for.

I've not seen the Malvern circular town service operating either. Mind you I have been in Cornwall for the last ten days, where the new 'Cornwall Bus' franchise operation seems to be in full swing.
