TFL Paddington lunchtime 20 Aug. 2019

Post by TimBrown » 19:19 Tuesday 20th August 2019

I was in London at lunchtime today indulging in a bit of rail travel and took 45 minutes out to photograph some London buses in the sunshine. OK they are not Midland Red, but as most of the contributors to this site seem to like red liveries, that's my excuse!

Very welcome "photo-shoot" thanks Tim --
-- public transport as it should be !! -- BUT it's being "strangulated" by traffic volumes (I believe) -- what's Boris going to do about that ??
( -- IF he survives more than a dozen more weeks, that is :lol: )

What with Gaydon on Sunday and London yesterday, I have only just caught up with Monday's Daily Telegraph article about Wrightbus and Mr Johnson's Borismaster going to a Chinese manufacturer.

If byd buy out wright bus then that will mean that they may be less willing to work with ADL now that they have their own stronghold in the british bus industry

Is it beyond the realms of possibility that BYD put a bid in for Wrightbus and ADL (also in trouble) with rationalisation and possibility of building electric buses at one site and diesel plus diesel hybrids at the other. Will battery operation be limited by scarce resources of rare metals such as lithium and cobalt though, and our stretched power generation system? See link below;

Chinese State owned Weichai Engineering have allegedly made a bid for Wrightbus according to this article in the Business section of The Daily Telegraph today. It seems to be the trend in the UK transport sector - nationalisation by overseas government run industries!
