Britannia 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' at Worcester 10 February 2018.

A very cold, wet and dark day made the camera work very hard, so please excuse any blurring or poor definition! On the plus side the dampness was good for steam effects and showed that the vintage coaches seemed to have working steam heat. I remember this class of locomotives in the 1950s working through Tamworth low level on West Coast top link expresses to and from London Euston and the North West. Also saw them at Clacton when I was on holiday there; at the time we train spotters called them 'Brits'.

Beautiful shots mate, love the ones on the bridge. I guess it used the triangle to turn?

Yes, used the triangle to turn. Nice photos there.

Thanks for sharing your pictures. The dull and damp weather did not put off the rail-fans by the look of it ! 8-)

Thanks for the super pictures. I don't ever recall seeing one in the Worcester area in their heyday. The Brits, although BR Standard locos, were something special with several working on the Eastern Region. I remember once spending an afternoon at Liverpool Street, I suppose around 1960, and "copping" quite a few of them.

I am booked on a charter this coming Saturday to the Settle and Carlisle. Not steam unfortunately but a pair of Class 37's which with their distinctive engine beat are diesels I can put up with. With snow about, there should be some really picturesque scenery on the hills.

Thought I'd just report that the Settle and Carlisle Charter train went well on Saturday despite not much snow - just a dusting on the higher peaks. But the 75 miles or so trip on the S&C is always worthwhile, whatever the weather.

The two DRS Class 37's, 37259 and 37069, despite their shabby appearance and being over 50 years old, behaved impeccably with almost perfect timekeeping throughout. This despite them having to cope with a 14 coach train on the Lickey Incline, the undulations of the S&C, and a fast return run home on the West Coast Mainline sandwiched between various Pendolinos. A total mileage of 520 on the day.

A super day out and the food was good too!!
