Charters at Shrub Hill 6 Aug. 2022
Two diesel hauled charters ran via Worcester Shrub Hill within 10 minutes of each other this morning Saturday 6 August 2022. First to arrive was the Saphos organised English Riviera Express charter from Wolverhampton to Kingswear with Locomotive Services owned 47614 (47853) leading and D1944 (47501) at the rear. The diesels took the train as far as Taunton where steam took over for the final leg of journey to Paignton and Kingswear. Note the clouds of dense black clag on departure from Worcester - definitely not to Euro 6 standard!
A few minutes later the Pathfinder organised Dorset Coast Explorer from Burton-upon-Trent to Weymouth arrived with West Coast railway owned 33025 and 33029 in charge. This train ran via Swindon, Reading West, Basingstoke, Southampton and Bournemouth and it will return via Westbury, Bath and Bristol Parkway.
