Johnsons are a very highly respected operator, so if this helps save their core business of coaching then I guess it's a good move, but it's tragic news for local bus.

It could be argued that at least it give Diamond a few more decent vehicles . . . .

Heartbreaking for everyone concerned. Staff and public alike.
This went down like a lead balloon with the staff.
They were told via a zoom call last night (Thursday) around 9pm
It had been strongly denied by management earlier in the day

To be fair to Johnsons, telling all members of staff at the same time is an impossible task.

Sad to see Johnson's go from the local bus network but totally understand why they want to protect their core coach business. I've been on several Johnson's Coach trips and they are very high quality and professional I always found.

Will miss them on the 149 / 150A from Worcester to Redditch though. Buses were always immaculate inside.

I wonder if Diamond will keep the transfered drivers on a 'Johnson's routes rota' or just route learn them on all the other Redditch garage routes.

Diamond have announced that "to assist Johnsons with some of their current operational difficulties", they are taking over operation of Johnsons' Redditch area services (54, 149, 150 and S83) from Monday 9th May The 150 is being shortened to Redditch - Kings Heath; Diamond still runs frequently on the 50 between the Maypole and Birmingham: -

I have read on the wmbusphotos forum that two StreetDecks have moved down to Tividale, and that they will move to Redditch to replace the two leased Enviro400mmcs used by Johnsons, so if and when that happens it should mean sightngs of a Diamond StreetDeck in service in Worcester !!
