Revised Worcester - Reddich service 25/4/22

This is now the 149 / 149S, and omits Shrub Hill, but still serves the W.R.Hospital and County Hall.
There are less journeys M-F, but the final one leaves Redditch at 17.40 and Worcester at 19.00 -- I assume they are all subsidised by the county council.

I approve of any subsidised services from Worcester between 18.00 and 19.00ish, and maybe First are hoping to get a subsidy for the 44 during this period ??

This follows a temporary timetable for the 150 from 11 April, which saw it split at Redditch and the Birmingham section reduced to every 2 hours. The 150 is now every 85 minutes (!) which seems to be in order to allow a 15-minute layover at each end.

So ... Johnsons' Worcester - Birmingham service finished three weeks before First's!

If I remember correctly 149 used to be Bromsgrove to Redditch via Lickey Alvechurch and Rowney Green in the 80's/90's think it was usually an S27.

Just checked the history section and seems it was also Evesham to Redditch before that as seen in this rather tasty photograph :D 8-)

I'm having a ride on the 14:15 149 from Redditch to Worcester today. Very lightly loaded. Just myself and 1 other passenger leaving Redditch and only 1 other picked up en-route.

What did concern me though is it does have some slack timings particularly around Redditch and the Alex Hospital. We literally flew through Inkberrow and Upton Snodsbury approx 12 mins early!!! That's really not good. I'd have been so annoyed if I'd have turned up for it at booked time. I'm still on it as I type this and we are 15 mins early approaching County Hall.

I use the Worcester - Redditch route a lot and never known this before. Hope the running cards are showing published timetable times!

Thanks JT for the reminder that it has been a through service to Brum in recent times -- their new timetable is a composite one though, still showing the connections with the 150.

In my opinion there's something wrong with their new T-T in that it shows the 149S arriving Crowngate, Mon-Fri schooldays at 08.37, but it doesn't show a 149 arriving around the same time on NON - schooldays, Mon - Fri.
However, it shows an 08.55 departure for Redditch, Mon- Fri regardless of shool / non-school days.

Do you agree JT and Adam.V that it needs ammending ??

Also, thanks for that warning Adam about the early running, -- I too use this service occasionally, and I think it's the worst crime a driver can commit !! -- are you going to complain to them ? ( - The tracker hasn't been working of-late !)

I hope you enjoyed the view of the countryside in her new clothes, -- I was very pleased to see a DD being used all day today, --

I don't know where you got off Adam, but it had a good load of students from the sixth form college when I saw it circa 15.25.

I stayed on all the way to City Centre and we were 11 mins early at Sixth Form College and picked loads up. Ironically we ended in town right time because there was a stand off between 2 cars and van on Spetchley Rd right at school time and we got caught in it. Was a right mess!!

I do agree there seems to be an error DD12 - and for the 1615 Worcester - Redditch journey as well.

So will the 149 be double deck all day on schooldays?

Yes, you're right JT, - the same (query) applies to the PM schools / non-schools journeys !!

I only saw one working yesterday afternoon, and it was a single-decker, -- my guess is that it might depend on what agreement WCC and Johnsons have for subsidy ??
