Winter 37 photos.

Post by TimBrown » 15:58 Thursday 31st December 2020

Ice and snow are not my favourite walking surfaces so basically housebound this week, only able to take photographs from home, so here are a few shots taken of route 37 workings in Grange Avenue with remnant of snow remaining visible. 'Salt Road' Volvo 69455 on Tuesday afternoon 29 December 2020.

Today Thursday 31 December 2020 I managed these photographs of Streetlite 47514 and Citaro 64014; the latter being the first time I have been able to capture it in service since the alleged fire in Malvern Road some time back! Apologies for the dark pixellated shots, the sun on the light coloured houses causing camera auto exposure some problems with buses in shadow.

Here is a photo of 42892 taken at lunchtime today 2 January 2021. At 16 years of age this Dart must be close to transfer elsewhere, or withdrawal; it has however outlived many of the Enviro 300 single-deckers which entered service at the same time - December 2005.

The latest lockdown brought fog and frost on Thursday 7 January 2021 and I took a couple of shots of 'Marmite' Streetlites working the 37 service through the gloom. Most buses seem to be running empty during the day so I hope the service still runs on half hourly frequency once the virus is under control and the Government support is withdrawn.

I suspect people are actually listening to government advice and staying at home

..... "Your Mission Tim, - should you decide to accept it," - is to get a photo of 32646 in Leicester City livery , on the 37 along Grange Avenue !! ( - totally unthinkable in MRW days !!)

Unfortunately, the current bus graph does not appear to have any regular usage of DDs on the 32S / 37, but maybe that will change when the schools go back !

I will try, but there is a sinister Stasi Police State starting to creep in with the worsening Pandemic situation as a number of trainspotters have been reported by local residents and moved off stations by the police, including on Shrub Hill under threat of calling in British Transport Police. Guess it won't be long before someone does the same to us bus enthusiasts. This link confirms;

Regret I will not be taking any photographs in the city centre until the lockdown finishes because of the proliferation of CCTV cameras and being an easily identified target. I urge others to please put some pictures of the buses in their charge if time allows, to keep us prisoners entertained!

Stay safe all of you and keep notebook and pen in your pocket - eyes are watching .

I was sitting waiting for the morning buses at 25 minutes past the hour, but to no avail. Then I checked First Bus Worcester timetables on the website and from 25 January 2021 the 37 was changed to hourly between the peak 'rush hour' timings; hope we return to half hourly when the lockdown and threat from Covid19 is over!

A couple of pictures taken on Tuesday morning 2 March 2021 with Citaro 64016 and Dart SLF 42892;

With schools opened and pupils back in class this week I was pleased to note that the 37 has been returned to a half-hourly frequency, though Covid 19 rules limit bus usage by paying passengers and pass holders to essential journeys only. Being a law abiding citizen, I haven't been on a bus since the start of this lockdown!

The attached photos taken on Tuesday afternoon 9 March 2021, include Streetlite 47516 in revised brown livery, Solo 53061 and Volvo/Centro 66699 working schools only 32S service (hoped to record the destination display, but the camera didn't capture it this time!).

Hopefully the brown livery no longer exists, as the bus wash is currently being used, as the temperatures have rises slightly. When the new depot is built (see Bus Depot on the Move thread) I am assuming that the new bus wash will be under cover so that it can be used throughout the year, especially as the buses are particularly dirty in the winter months.
