Service changes 24/2/19

Post by DD12 » 13:38 Friday 25th January 2019

Lots more service changes coming -- -- could well be mainly minor timing changes (?)

I would like to know why these are necessary this time !?

( I would applaud any improvements in reliability).

I love the way there's still apparently a 'Pioneer' store in Malvern

Hope you are right about minor timing changes and hope that no further cuts are in the pipeline.

Is Worcester depot still making enough profit as a percentage of turnover to ensure the garage is viable into foreseeable future?

There is a rumour among residents of Tolladine Road, Worcester that the hourly 34 service on Sundays is due to be withdrawn completely in February 2019; can anyone confirm whether this is true or not please?

I'm not TRYING to annoy you Tim, but IF there's a "peak" shortage of drivers, might it not "pay" FMR to reduce the number of buses in service on Sundays (and Saturdays) and reschedule drivers so that there's more of them available, with enough (legal) hours remaining, to give a reliable service on Mon - Fri. ?

Also, I think that central government should pay 50% towards training bus drivers (£ paid back out of the taxes that bus companies pay).

( I also think it's obvious that the current system of bus provision, and urban planning is "broken" ).

P.S. - I've just seen (on the First website, and on "twitter") that there have been some more non-runners this afternoon on the 144A -- -- that will be "SALT in the wounds" for it's customers !

From what I have gathered, there will be service reductions on Sundays, some of this is due to Crowngate offering all day parking for £1, buses cannot compete with offers like this, and increases the number of cars on the roads on Sundays. Apparantly, the 30 is reduced to hourly, as is the 31 and possibly the 35. There is additional time for some of the other services across the board and on Sundays, there will be no Malvern then 144 service immediately afterwards, as it is near on impossible to keep time.

Sometimes, when I've seen my local Sunday bus with virtually no passengers, I've wondered why it hasn't yet been chopped -- -- I've wondered if perhaps the local "Chamber of Commerce" (or similar) has been subsidising some of them -- --
If they do get the chop in a few weeks time, it will then at least be clear that nobody is !
