I think it's appropriate to record here, some last-minute changes to the S45.

I hope the changes will lead to a double-decker being needed once again on the S45 !

Worth posting here is a very recent article about the 144 reductions, - with the MD citing reliability problems caused by congestion.

Since i left my job at Worcester Shrub Hill i have been using the 144 quite a lot and there always seems to be good loadings on the Bromsgrove - Brum section. There surely is a market for Diamond or NatEx to offer something between Bromsgrove and Birmingham limited stop. Seems a prime opportunity for another NatEx Platinum route. 1 bus per hour i believe not enough. Totally agree with the reliability issues already mentioned though.

Apart from one, at 05.55 this morning, all northbound departures of 144s and 144As from Crowngate have been the Euro 6 Volvos.

The MD has mentioned reliability problems due to pockets of congestion on the northern section, but surely, halving the frequency alone doesn't eliminate that problem (?)

I am wondering if there is some kind of PRACTICAL way drivers can now be contacted to continue northwards beyond Bromsgrove (off-service) and turn around at a suitable point to support south-bound reliability on the northern section -- --
or perhaps continue to and from central Brum, to cover for a broken-down vehicle ?

BUT of course, then people waiting at Bromsgrove, to travel south, would have to wait an extra 15 minutes for the next one ( - IF it's on time !)
-- Does anyone know if BUNCHING of northbound 144/144A,s happens a lot in the Bromsgrove area ??

I suspect the only viable way for people living between Bromsgrove and Rubery to have a decent bus service in and out of Brum, is for them to contact National Express ( - and PERHAPS the county council) - PDQ !!

(Sorry for any duff logic !)

There were two Salt Road liveried buses on the city today - one on 30's and another on 35's.

You are correct Matt. 69450 (WX59 BZD) was used on the 35 (Am) & then the 30 for the rest of the day.

...... The 05.55 from Crowngate to Bromsgrove, and back, was the ONLY DD used today on the 144 / A. ( )

..... Just two, non-Euro 6 vehicles were inserted into the afternoon northbound 144A -- departures from Crowngate, at 16.00 and 16.40.

I see from the tracker that a StreetLite Max was used on a Wednesday evening 144 to and from Brum.

I think this is is a pity, as I think the green Volvos look great ( - "welcoming"), at night.

-- -- all twelve of the green Volvos were in use / available, during the day (although not necessarily all the time).

Does anyone know if a green Volvo (Euro 6 conversion) can "do" the 144 (B'ham) from early morning til late night, on one tank of fuel ??

-- or have any of our driver members ever taken them back to the garage for fuelling ??
