I believe the passenger numbers on the S45 have dropped this season and it is already being operated by a single-deck each. I don't think a coach will be used.

I also get the impression there will not be a spare double-deck and all maintenance will be done at weekends / holidays and between school services during the week.

Comments in this post are "canteen gossip" so may not be totally correct.

Thanks Adam, - I forgot to acknowledge that its also possible sometimes to borrow one or two DDs from Leicester when needed.

I also admire changes, when I can see they improve efficiency.

"Sad for me" is that we will have lost all three ex-London Tridents, with none being replaced by DDs.

Three DDs were at the depot this afternoon, during school-run time. -- -- one being 33404 (looking very smart) - -

Would anyone like to take a bet that "Mechwr26" will take the engine and gearbox out of 33043 when it gets withdrawn soon, and put them in 33404 ?

If we need to borrow one from Leicester soon, I believe they've got a "semi-open-top" we can have !!

67699 Was operating the S45 today as I saw it heading back to Worcester this evening (still showing S45 on the destination display) So that freed up one of the DDs :D

35156 is off the road but I'm not sure why. It was damaged in the same incident that put 47520 out of action, but it was only light damage and the body shop had it sorted within a few days. However, it hasn't been back on the road since.

Please excuse me for quoting myself, but I ran out of time to edit the post, to add that, one afternoon last week I believe I saw an Astons DD at Hanley Castle School, and as I returned to Worcester along the A38 I saw two more heading south, AND the icing on the cake was that they were followed by the semi-open top Leyland Titan that "belongs to" Sunshine Radio, and often parks at the Astons depot !!

The S45 no longer needs a DD, this school-year, willr7.

Several times over the last couple of weeks I've seen a double-deck coach heading towards Worcester from the Hereford area. Overall dark-green livery with no markings. Normally looks to have a fare load on, with some passengers in high-vis jackets. Work transport for someone maybe? Any ideas?

Thanks DD12! Now I understand why 33043 is departing as only 7 DD's are needed out of the current 8. However this still leaves no 'Spares', unless there are other routes that no longer require DD operation?
