Service Revisions - March 2018

Post by DD12 » 15:44 Saturday 10th February 2018

I see FMR has lodged the paperwork for revisions from March 24th.

As mentioned elsewhere, they affect the 50s, - plus the 32, - and the 31/31U will be improved.

I am surprised to see further service revisions -- on today's "Ns + Ps" :-

X50/51/S51 from April 3rd (Timetables only).

363/373 from April 16th (Route and Timetables).

and Malvern services from April 16th (Presumably just the return of the summer Ledbury extension ?)

There was talk of sending the 363 and 373 down Bromwich Road to reduce delays caused in Bull Ring and St Johns. When I used to drive those routes we always picked up people there so I'm not sure that is such a good idea.

I don't know if that is the change for the new registration, but I can't think what else it would be.

There will be changes to the Herefordshire contract work from mid-May (14th I think). The Volvo and Solo will swap duties during the off-peak daytime period to provide more capacity on the Market-day services, which can get rather full, and the Solo will go onto the 417 which isn't doing too well in the week. To do this, times need to be adjusted to fit them in around the schools.

Also, extra journeys on Saturday for the 417 will be added as Service 418. This is Summer only for the vast numbers of Seasonal Workers who use the route... DD12 will be pleased to learn the 418 will be operated with a Trident.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays there will be extra 672 journeys, but some will run as 671 or 673 over slightly different routes. On Mondays, 672 will be withdrawn and replaced by new Service 481.

The Wednesday only 404/405 will return to being just one route, the 405, extended to start in Ledbury and running at a different time. The Friday only 482 will also start and finish in Ledbury.

No changes are planned for the 675/6.

X50/51/S51 from April 3rd (Timetables only).
The new timetable booklet for the 50's is now available, and it's dated from 24th March, therefore I'm wondering if the changes to registrations I saw above are actually only corrections/ammendments to the paperwork that is lodged with the licensing authority, and that no further changes to the X50/51/S51 will happen after the 24th/26th ?? :?

None that I know of. The April date may a change to the S51 from the March date but will not be operated until April as the Schools are on holiday for Easter.

And yes, the "50s" timetable is out, plus two versions of the new 31 group of services... I forgot to mention earlier.

PS, we over ordered the old 50s timetable and have several thousand left if anyone wants one!

Yes, you were right, the timetables are now online.

I started to get very interested when I saw that one of the 363 timetables declared that it was going via Twyning Green (FROM Tewkesbury), until I realised it was just a "leftover" error !

More interesting - and local to me, is the diversion of two London Road 44s, to serve BEO school, as the AM 43S, and the PM 44S.
Both via TIMBERDINE AVENUE which is a notorious bottle-neck at school times.
- Let me know when you are going to drive it - bmmoboy - and I'll walk in front waving a pair of red flags !

We currently have one of the BEO school buses that runs dead to St. Peters after dropping off the kids in the school. Can't remember which one it is, but obviously it has to run via Timberdine Avenue. I did it a few weeks ago and it was a nightmare.

As for Twyning Green... May changes, and it won't be the 363. Watch this space!!

(clues are already in the thread, just nobody picked up on them 8-) )

FIRST MIDLAND RED BUSES LTD, FIRST POTTERIES, DIVIDY ROAD, STOKE-ON-TRENT, ST3 5YY
From: Great Malvern Town Centre
To: Cheltenham Royal Well Bus Station
Via: Upton, Tewkesbury
Name or No.: 481 Service type: Normal Stopping / Limited Stop / Hail & Ride Effective date: 14 May 2018
Other details: Mondays only.

Of course it was obvious that a replacement Herefordshire (?) service would run via Twyning Green. I foresee a lot of photos from Cheltenham Bus Station.
