Thanks for posting the photo Tim -- it's rather ironic that 6015 has been here at WR for quite a long time now, but hardly ever on "the patch", -- but that's a good thing in that it's been protected from the elements, and hasn't attracted vandals !!

- MOT next week IF they can get the platform doors to work !!
:)
Our awesome sparky has got the doors sorted out today. JP brought down a replacement door motor, control box and wiring diagram and Steve managed to get them working. I've painted the underside and the engine bay in silver. Test is booked for 8am next Thursday..... wish me luck at being able to get up early enough to take it 🙂

WR's novel method of stopping oil leaks, park the bus upside down, hope it doesn't scratch the roof! Glad the doors are now sorted.........

That colour looks very tame for one worked on by JC. I was expecting to see it painted bright green or something similar.

The Gardner would look awesome in purple... but I'm sure JP would dissaprove almost as much as my suggestion that the bus would make a good camper 😉

I thought I'd add some of my second-rate and third-rate DD12 photos below.
- Unfortunately I still cannot find a way to post them on here, full size, so anyone interested will have to zoom-in !

Photo No.1 is my oldest one, and might interest Tim !
- it's of 6046 in Worcester at the Green Lane terminus of the W1 (Ombersley Road).

It shows the glossy repaint into the short-lived NBC light red livery, with "white" wheels

Photo No.2 is of 6106 on the patch at WR.
- my memory of this is as follows :-

It was October 1976, and all WR and Malvern double-deckers had just been replaced by new Leyland Nationals (539-550), and MN had just closed.

A matter of days beforehand, I had visited MN while it still had vehicles there, and may have still been operational, -- -- 6106 was there, but I doubt it had been operated (?), as MN had never had any rear-engined DDs in it's allocation.

In this photo it's showing the W1 service, with WR blinds fitted ( - it was normally a Ludlow bus during this period, - as confirmed on this website).

AND my memory has it that the W1 had been replaced by the W33 (all single-deck) a LONG time before October 1976.

My best guess is that 6106 was drafted-in as as a spare for this transitional period ( - although none should have been needed !), - - but not operated.

Photo No.3 is of 6016 at Leicester, shortly after it's major overhaul at Central Works, when it was about 12 years old.

This photo might appeal to "Mechwr26" and "943KHA", as it shows the almost obligatory black oil over the back "bumper" !!

Photo No.4 is of 6000, and is probably on the patch at WR.

Thanks DD12. The bus terminus at Green Lane hasn't changed very much - apart from a new bus shelter recently, but the field behind 6046 is now a well established residential estate, regrettably on what was productive arable land. I never understood NBC painting the wheels in that very light grey, it showed the dirt almost as soon as it was applied. I preferred red wheels and always reckoned London Transport wheels painted dark maroon was a good choice and complimented the red bodywork.

In the dim and distant past when BMMO did all the overhauls and repaints at Central Works, Carlyle Road, the undersides, mechanical units and under the wheel arches was liberally sprayed with bright chassis silver paint so I reckon that 6015 with silver undersides, chassis and engine is correct for the BMMO style of external livery. I believe this light colour made the engineer's fault finding task somewhat easier when things went wrong, especially if the buses had a regular steam clean underneath.

Well I finally got to see a DD12 in action again on Worcester roads ( - something that was never likely to happen ) - thanks again to everyone who made it happen !!

The last time I took a bus photo was in the mid-80s, and the last time I saw a DD12 on Worcester roads was c.1977 ( - it was a Kidderminster bus on the 315).

- I will put my new ones on here, but please forgive the poor quality !

I am very pleased that someone set the front "blinds" in an appropriate way for going up + down the Bath Road ( - to Motus Commercials).

These were taken at Sidbury and show "Mechwr26" at the wheel, and "943KHA" as his conductor !
I cannot believe how quiet the engine was, and it seemed to glide along - - - I would have liked to be halfway up one of the inclines so as to hear the Gardner engine, but one cannot be in two places at once.

Could one of the two gentlemen above, please tell us what class of MOT it's got (5 or 6 ?)

... and when is it going back to Wythall, please ?

Magical experience , thanks
:) :) :)
