Redditch in February 2013.

Post by TimBrown » 11:28 Monday 17th August 2020

With the current premature demise of many erstwhile local Enviro 300 single-deckers I thought these shots taken at Redditch during February 2013 might be of interest as it was also the period when Diamond took over the services and facilities from First Midland Red West. The first batch taken on 1 February 2013 includes other types which have long since passed to various dealers and probably no longer in existence;

Great pictures and memories as always Tim.

I remember 38126 operating a 247 from Redditch to Evesham that I was riding once. We never even made it to the top of Unicorn Hill out of Redditch Bus Station before it overheated.

That's a shame, despite being step entrance, I thought these underfloor engined Volvos from a passengers' point of view were one of the most civilised buses to ride on, more like a coach with plenty of legroom, comfortable seats, good suspension and surprisingly quieter than their rear engined counterparts; they had a long life and probably very high mileage when Midland Red West received them.
