…… I was told I have to take a First Leicester SteetDeck. Oh joy! :?
Two of them have arrived today - - couldn't see the fleet numbers.

35189 and 35191. Both have been to Worcester before. They will only be with us while the schools are still in, and are scheduled to return to Leicester on Sunday.

Looking at the running boards... One will depart Crowngate on the 0940 Service X99 (me driving) and the other will work the 0750 Service 365 from Link Top to Hanley School, followed by the 0900 Service 44 from Barnards Green to Crowngate. It will then park up for just over an hour before working the 1100 Service X99.

The 1830 Service X99 will be a Worcester StreeDeck, being used on X44/44/43S and S43 throughout the day.

Very interesting, thanks Adam, -- I love that kind of "interworking" and utilisation of DDs !

A thought I've had is, that it's a bit of a shame the X99 wasn't numbered the X91 - - to represent the long-lived Midland Red route from Leicester to Hereford (via Worcester).

(Sorry if that's already been said by someone before).

If you recall we tried the X98 via Bromyard last year? Well that didn’t work out so it was dropped for this year. However, the original idea for that was to run the bus via Great Malvern and Ledbury into Hereford over the old X91 route. That didn’t happen for two reasons... Firstly, both of those towns have a direct train to Hereford and it was felt that we wouldn’t be able to compete, but the main reason was that route is notably longer and it would have put drivers over their working hours, assuming the same number of short workings once there.

Had it gone ahead I would have been very vocal in getting them to use the X91 route number!

I don’t think anyone ever notices the side fleet names. I often drove Worcester branded buses in Hereford, and visa versa and nobody ever said a word. Yesterday I drove a Leicester branded bus all day and nobody noticed that either.

Well that's true like they don't always read the destination display either

Customer - "But it says Worcester on the front" (below the windscreen)
My reply - "there's an advert on the side for Gloucester Quays, but we don't go their either"
