47520 - SN64 CFZ

Post by willr7 » 18:12 Friday 16th November 2018

Looking at the latest fleet List today, I see that 47520 is listed as in 'store' after suffering accident damage on or before 15/11/18. (Thanks Adam!) Do we know the extent of damage/how it was sustained?

Most of the drivers at Worcester know how it happened, and who the culprit was, but I don't think that anyone will spill the beans.

Some of that famous canteen gossip again... There is talk that 47520 has suffered structural damage and may have to go back to the factory to be put on a jig.

I did ask an engineer if this was true but they seemed reluctant to comment. Which kinda implies it’s true!

Seem to remember something about this bus being a lightweight version and different from the rest of the batch. I wonder if this involved weight saving to the monocoque structure and not just the doors and certain ancillaries?

I'm sure you're right Tim. I also seemed to remember it wasn't a huge weight saving either!

Thanks for the confirmation Matt, it would appear that the basic structure is to the normal standard with minor modifications to certain ancillaries - for example, I believe the doors are electric rather than air operation. Can anyone add the other lightweight modifications please?
