I honestly don't know, but I guess they've just been using the additional Streetlites on City routes, especially while the Mercedes have been gradually entering service (with their electrical problems) it would make sense to keep them as long as possible for breakdown cover and especially now the Dart's have been Withdrawn... Then again First probably have a completely different logic
Yes, I reckon you're right willr7 -- -- I've just reviewed my "records", and I think it's fair to say the 2 surplus Streetlite Maxes have probably acted as spares (since October 2018) to cover for the conversion work of the green Volvos to Euro 6, and for the electrical problems of the Mercs.

I’m not sure sorry Adam, but what is going to happen with the darts when they are withdrawn? Will they be transferred/sold on or scrapped/used for parts?
My GUESS is that at least one will go back to Potteries, and that 53155 will come the other way, possibly very soon ??
This solo and 53041 have been parked out of use with one of the ex London Darts for at least a couple of weeks at AG depot

Thanks G760XRE, it's nice to get a bit of info from Staffordshire.

Yes, thanks! I believe 53041 was originally meant to be coming here too but plans changed and solo 53062 is to be kept on instead (which makes more sense)

All three Darts have indeed been withdrawn (unfortunately) and are parked adjacent to the wash facing the garage with ticket machines removed. The last day in service for all three of them was Tuesday, January 15. The short wheelbase StreetLites seem to have replaced their workings on the subsidised Herefordshire services.

53047 was withdrawn at the end of its service on Thursday, January 17. Its engine is currently in the process of being donated to 53802.

I can't trace anything for 53049 after Tuesday, January 8, so I would assume it was withdrawn from around this date. It's been keeping 53044 company in the bottom corner of the patch for some time now.

It is a shame that darts are not for sale

Thanks for sharing this information Red Midland! :D Yes, I think it will be a shame if the darts aren’t sold on or put to other use elsewhere within First group!

I was under the impression that the Darts were being stored serviceable, and could be used at short notice if required.

That would seem like a good idea but I guess that if they’ve had their ticket machines removed then that may not be happening, unless the ticket machines were needed to allow the last few Mercedes to enter service and they will be fitted with new ones... :?
