New round of disposals and transfers-out.

Post by DD12 » 23:11 Thursday 1st November 2018

After several months during which there were no disposals or transfers-out, from FMR, a new round has begun.
These will be allowed by the recent service cuts, and the entry into service of 69460, and 53207 (due), and the Mercs, and, sooner or later, the completion of mods to the green Volvos.

First's official list of changes which appears on wmbusphotos, has just been updated, and shows that 67662 has gone (or is due to go) to the potteries.

It doesn't yet show the withdrawal of 53044 - which is now in the "withdrawn corner" of the patch.
Adam has already reported this withdrawal, and the newly updated First Midlands fleet list confirms this.

Please let me know if there's anything wrong with the above appraisal !

Just enquires about 67662... It went to Potteries early last week, either Monday or Tuesday. I missed that one.

I was also told that 53044 has been stripped for parts to keep 53050 on the road, so we won’t be seeing that back on the road.

I had an email today from Nigel Eggleton which clears up a few of the fleet movement questions and rumours that have been on here over the last few weeks, as follows...
A quick look a few moments ago at Midlandred.net shows some understandable confusion about Citaro liveries and transfers out.

Attached is the expected Midlands fleet position when the Citaros are complete. By all means use the information contained within as you wish including PVRs and disposals as necessary. Note we now have confirmed fleet numbers for ex Reading coaches and that the rumour of Streetlites to Leicester is adrift – Worcester will lose 2 to Adderley Green.
So, looking at the list he sent, the key points are...
  • There will be 5 branded Mercedes Citaros for the 35 route, the last one is 64021 which is due to be delivered 6/11/18.
  • The Citaros that have been delivered should be MOTed and ready for service by 15/11/18 (that's not to say they will be used by then, just that they will be ready).
  • Thorntons have not yet confirmed a date for the remaining examples.
  • None of the StreetLites are being transferred to Leicester, however two StreetLite Max are going to Potteries (63358/9).
  • All Worcester Enviro 300 are going to Potteries.
  • All Worcester Solos, except 53207 and 53802 are to be withdrawn. Two additional Solos will arrive (no, I don't know why!).
  • 20202 will be withdrawn, and we are expecting two coaches to arrive from Reading. These are 20370 and 20371.
  • All 3 Darts will be withdrawn.
  • Don't tell DD12... 33043 is going. This looks to be going to a private buyer, so maybe for preservation? If so, someone has got themselves a very good bus. My guess is that the S45 School service will be converted to coach operation, but I will need to confirm this.
Thank you for the information Mr Eggleton.

Many Thanks for the update, Adam & Mr Eggleton! :D

It's a shame that 33043 is leaving as I think that it looks the smartest out of all the older DD's (Except 33404)! It is also a shame that we will now lose all 3 darts rather than just the one! :(

After looking at images of the proposed coaches (20370 & 20371) It appears they are both wheelchair accessible! Does this mean they can be used in service?? :?

Also, my GUESS is that the 'Two additional Solos' will be newer ones which are needed for use on restricted service 31. (Hopefully they will be the newer Solo SR) :D

DITTO !!

Don’t get your hopes up! 😔

One is a 2006 long wheelbase 31 seater, which I understand. The other is a real puzzle to me.

Oh Great! Well on the plus side, at least it's 3 years newer than the current solo's. My guess is that it will be 53155 (CN06 BXH) which appears to be the only solo left at the 'Potteries'

Then the other will have to be sourced from elsewhere as there are no left-over solos at Leicester/Stoke after 53155!

Correction to the above, I was wrong about there being no other solo's after 53155, as it looks like 53041 is STILL in service at the potteries! (But that's a 2002 so let's hope that's not sent to replace one of our 2003 solo's  )

Looking on the main website I see that 53041, (which is in urban 2 livery) has had quite a chequered history !

And, according to the ukbuses.co fleetlist, it still only has 22 seats !
