33042 still parked indoors with most of the engine in bits. I suspect they are waiting parts.

Meanwhile I can now confirm they will not be replaced at Worcester so the double-deck allocation will reduce by two. One likely "saving" will be the Service 363 that is run with a double-deck for the Hanley Castle School journeys, as numbers are expected to fall for next terms intake. The journey will still run but will be a single-deck.
:( Thanks for the bad and the sad news !!
- I shall really miss riding the scenic 14.55 373 to Hanley Swan (which then goes to Hanley Castle for the schools 363).

(The upside is that we will then have only one 'decker in "diesel-stain livery" !)

The other reduction is double-deck requirement will be coming from reduced demand on the S23 service. It seems the new college on the old Leyland/Rover site in Longbridge as had a big impact on Worcester Sixth Form College, as a large number of Bromsgrove pupils are choosing to go there instead.

I was in conversation with a despatch clerk at the 'WMT30' event on Sunday and he informed me that now only 33039 (LN51DWD) is destined for transfer.

I can't seem to be able to find a definitive answer over the allocation of these vehicles at Worcester...

Anyhow, here's 33039 taking in the morning sun at Baynhall between journeys on Service 32 recently.

I will try to confirm this when I get a chance. Wont be today as it's my day off.. woohoo! :P

Need a day off to recover from my high-speed, late-night Service 420 last night as I didn't get home until about midnight...

OK, wasn't quite in service but I did have passengers. My son has his first Service 420 next week so asked if I would take him route learning. Not a problem, and he also mentioned it to "Red Midland" so he came along too for a ride. Even though First only operates as far as Bromyard these days it was decided by a majority of 2 to 3 that it was best to show him the whole route to Hereford because, a) you never know, and b) there is a KFC there and we were hungry!!

The high-speed part came from a lethal mix of the superbly twist A44 road and the fact I'd chosen to take my modified twin-turbo Subaru to work that day. :o

Saw a late NatEx arrive in Hereford Bus Station, but alas it wasn't MattW driving. :(

Anyway, I've wandered totally off-topic so I'll shut up now! :|

Don't worry mate - sounds like a good time was had by all.
One day you'll sell me that car - but my new one'll give you a run for your money. See you Sunday!

Worcester are still sending two double-decks to Cornwall but the second one will not be sent until 33042 is fixed, otherwise they will be one double-deck short when the schools are back in. Makes you wonder how long 33042 will be off the road...

I was in discussion with the engineers this evening and they've said that with the state the engine is in there's a chance 33042 may not clock any more miles at all...

The current plan is that 33039 is going to Cornwall. 33042 is very likely to be scrapped as one of the connecting rods is hanging out of a big hole in the cylinder block

Only hanging out? I've known you fix buses which have had rods sat in the road! I'm guessing it's down to cost again.
