The current plan is that 33039 is going to Cornwall. 33042 is very likely to be scrapped as one of the connecting rods is hanging out of a big hole in the cylinder block
I think it's great that you've re-joined the new forum, Mechwr26 !

My bet is that you'll get given an old engine from Taunton or from Cornwall -
and that you'll get told to "stick-it in" 33042 -
in which case you could tell "them" , where to stick it :D

I guess you're going to be incredibly busy 'til mid September, but when you're not, any chance you could tell us what size the Cummins engine is (Litres) for the Tridents?

(I would also love to know the MOT dates/schedule for all our 'Deckers, but I don't expect you to reply to that !) - Signed:- DD.Nut

Another change of plan!

33042 will be at Worcester for a few more days as I believe the gearbox will be coming out for use in either 33401 or 33404. Both of these have damaged gearbox cases where they have been grounded at speed (my guess would be the harsh speed bumps in the Sixth Form College) and need regular attention as they often leak from the gearbox and need to be patched up with fibreglass.

The other vehicle that was due to go to Kernow will now go to the FirstGroup reserve fleet and will be stored at Stoke... That's the theory at least!

The gearbox from 33042 was fitted to 33401 just over a week ago and that bus is back in service running well. Unfortunatly this has limited 33401 a bit as the original box was a 5-speed and the one from 33042 is a 4-speed, so don't expect to see it doing over 50 mph any time soon.

33039 has been withdrawn and is now stored waiting to be transferred.

Will that be a problem on the144 ? -
- How often would a 60 MPH capability be useful on the 144?

National speed limit for a bus is 50mph on a single-carriageway road, so only on the down-hill bit of road from Rubery to the motorway junction.

In theory on the up-hill bit too, but I think that is a bit optimistic!

Thanks Adam, - yet another bit of detail I didn't know.
- I had assumed it was 60, same as for cars !

DD12. Trident engine capacity is 8.3 litres. This is the Euro 3, 24 valve version of the old Lance engine.
