Varios... 20-years ago today

Post by AdamH » 08:44 Friday 3rd August 2018

These anniversaries keep on popping up to make me feel old!

Found This Photograph in the "Today in History" section and I suddenly remembered that the bulk of the Mercedes-Benz O.814 Vario fleet entered service 20-years ago today. Officially the anniversary was yesterday, but as that was a Sunday most didn't get used on day 1.

The photo shows me working a Service 141 out of Bromsgrove to Droitwich, and I still remember the double-take and look of surprise from the unknown photographer when he saw that bus. All the other depots were still running the older minibuses, and a the 140/1 was the only minibus route run by Worcester in Bromsgrove, so the new bus really stood out. The guy ran flat-out down Market Street to get that photo before I turned left into St. John Street.

Good work, whoever you are!

Nice shades ;)

Is the desination blind a combined roller/electric one? The route number looks very pixel-like.

Cool!
Like I said the other day, theres far more on this site than I ever look at. I need to find the time to go through it a bit better, I wouldn't want your work to be underappreciated ;)

Wow, that is awesome! I still have an actual Citibus blind from the early days when they still had boxes around the number - I can see lots of fun coming up comparing old with new(er). :D :D

Thanks Adam!

And 546 has been at work over the last three days on Wheelers town services in Bromsgrove. :o If the vehicle gets through to November , it will have completed ELEVEN years with them. 8-)

I’m liking this Adam! :D Are there any electronic destination displays to play with too? (like those that are fitted on the Enviro’s and other newer buses) :?:
