Clearway Mercedes Benz Vario PEZ 3058 amazingly still at work today Thursday 11 January 2018 on the Charford local service. It was originally Midland Red West 546 reg no. S546 RWP and subsequently First Midland Red 52546, in which guise it was the last bus I ever drove!

This 'vintage' midi-bus, in its twentieth year, is seen entering Bromsgrove bus station.

That Clearway lettering on the side is a recent addition so maybe an indication that PEZ could be around for some time yet :)

No sign of PEZ on Thursday lunchtime 8 February 2018, the Charford service was in the hands of Plaxton Primo MX06 AEB which is pictured in Bromsgrove bus station. Presume the Vario is kept as a spare to cover for maintenance and servicing of the Primo.

Those Primos are so cute.
How do they get round the DDA with PEZ? Is it because they class it as a coach?

I gather this is the reason , I guess that is how Cofton Euroliners can use mini-buses with step entrances also on Bromsgrove town services, :)

Thanks Andrew. Kind of makes a mockery of it all!

I assume this is the most appropriate place to post this:

No sign of PEZ but a more modern Mercedes Mini in service on the Charfird Services yesterday in Bromsgrove. Strangely, no photos of it on Flickr, apart from mine now, and not even a service number on the window. See photo below. Not usually a type I would photograph but worth a shot these days

Upto last Thursday , PEZ has been the mainstay of the Bromsgrove town services operated by Clearway/Wheelers for a couple of weeks as the Primo has not been seen by myself for some time. But the blue one has been used for three days now. We wait to see what appears on Monday !!

Not somewhere I visit often these days but always interesting to see what tunes up on the Charfords. Promos aren’t the most reliable of buses so I can see why they still use PEZ :D
