A better photo of 31786, taken today now 66305 is not in the way, and the best shot I could get of 31144 which arrived today. I'm told there is quite a lot of work needed on this as both the engine and gearbox are "f***ed". :o

Just followed 31786 up the London Road -
it was being towed - front jacked-up - behind a recovery truck, and entered the M5 northbound.
SO ! - having been towed all the way down to Worcester, is it going to be towed all the way back to Yorkshire, I wonder ?

- With winds of 75 MPH forecast, I wouldn't want to be in close proximity of that "combo" when it gets to the exposed northern motorways !!

A number of fixed and working Stoke vehicles have been towed home because they have been out of MOT by the time they are fixed (normally parked up for weeks or months before coming to Worcester). If another broken bus is towed to Worcester, it makes sense to use the tow truck to take a non-MOT bus home rather than run back "empty".

Thanks Adam, - I keep on forgetting about that scenario and similar ones, and I have "failed to spot" any of the Stoke buses being towed back

32052 is back at Worcester today for no other reason than they need to find a parking spot. Should be here for about a week and it's outdoors if anyone wants a photo.

Well this Topic has fallen into disuse since Mechwr26 left. But wait, he's back, and it looks like the visitors are queuing up to see the good doctor...

Arrived today is Leicester's 66845 waiting for Mechwr26 to work his magic.

Yep she's all stripped down and requires : 6 pistons and liners, 6 inlet valves, an oil filter housing assembly, and an oil pump. It's broken the rings on 3 of the cylinders and badly damaged a liner. The inlet valves have regressed into the seats but I'm pretty sure I can save the heads (800 quid each)
Apart from pulling the liners out ( we don't have a liner puller, I've got my own homemade one) these are lovely engines to overhaul, much nicer to do than the later Deutz/ Volvo engines.

66845 now finished and safely back at Leicester. 67639 engine removed and partially stripped. It has broken the rings and damaged the cylinder block. It also has a lot of water in the sump oil due to badly corroded core plugs allowing coolant to mix with the oil
