Glad to know that it's not just in my employment that such decisions are made . . . . :o

Well, if it got here under it's own steam; that makes it better than 32067 !
I say let's keep it !
(I think the snag might be that it would have to be adapted to comply with DDA requirements).

It would appear 32057 has been sent to Worcester to act as an engine donor to 66963. This is a decision clearly made by a manager and not an engineer as they don't have the same engine type...
.... or could it turn-out that there are some "valuable", re-useable parts within the older engine ( ie: parts of the correct spec.), to help rebuild a suitable one (maybe) ??

When 32057 came to Worcester, Volvo 66692 was sent to Stoke to see if their electrician can sort it out (it has been off the road with an electrical fault for well over a month).

Yep, I've been told to pull the engine out of the DD and fit it into 66963.... the fact that it's not quite the same has been ignored.

This is how it stands at the moment. Lots of parts needed to be swapped over to fit into a single deck.
Timing case, compressor, manifolds, wiring loom, engine mountings, bellhousing etc. are all different.

I HAD assumed that the engine that was in 32057 was NOT it's original one,
- ie: - approx. 16 years old, - but now I am not so sure - ? ? ?

I also assume from Mechwr26's post, that the "project" will be abandoned ? ?

- or IF a usable engine can still be built-up, will it be reliable, and will it comply with the Euro emissions requirement ? ?

All companies have to "push" to attack rising costs, but at a time when traffic congestion is increasingly "wrecking" bus service reliability + viability, I think we also need the vehicles to be VERY reliable !
