The attached photographs of Padmore Street patch, courtesy of Bob Hemming, were taken just before noon yesterday Friday 20 May 2022 from Asda car park. There are 21 vehicles in view, 19 if you exclude the two coaches. Of the 9 double-deckers currently on allocation, only 2 are out in service which is worrying on two counts; a) they are now generally only in use in the morning and evening peak period working schools services and contracts, b) three of the four clean exhaust Wright Streetdecks are languishing on the patch whilst dirty exhaust Citaros are out working the decker's previous city and county services. It makes me wonder if Worcester garage will retain double-deckers, and whether it is economically viable to use such buses exclusively on Schools work. Perhaps things will change when the rumoured withdrawals of elderly Citaros and Volvo/Centro buses happens in the near future.
Is WR still earmarked for those second-hand ADL E20D single-deckers from Hoeford? Reports elsewhere suggest they are working with First Potteries in Stoke-on-Trent.
Noon 20 May 2022 Padmore Street
Re: Noon 20 May 2022 Padmore Street
The deckers are used on the morning schools and three of them go back to the garage ready for the afternoon return schools, a couple of them are used on the 30 service or 44/45 services. It is a very lucrative contract operating schools, which is why two vehicles go empty to and from Barnt Green/Beoley to operate to South Bromsgrove High School.
