Queens Platinum Jubilee bus

Post by bmmoboy » 11:42 Thursday 5th May 2022

47518 is back from the paintshop in Platinum Jubilee livery. It is basically norman livery, but the rear end is a more metallic version of the purple. It is awaiting decals.

This bus looks the part and is a fitting tribute to our long-lived Queen and her 70th Platinum celebration of accession to the throne. I wish she would sit back and enjoy the time left to her by allowing HRH Prince of Wales to take the reigns (or should that be reign) as Prince Regent.

On a less happy note, the Bank Holiday celebrations on Thursday 2 June 2022 and Friday 3 June 2022 are marred in Worcester because Sunday 'service' is in operation meaning that ONLY the 30 Dines Green, 35 Warndon, X50 Pershore and 144 Catshill will be operating and then just as a skeleton services. Malvern will be without any buses at all on both days!

I was going to list all the services that won't run but it totalled 26 routes and that didn't include schools! It is a far cry from Bank Holidays in the 1950s and 1960s when most inhabitants of Birmingham and the Black Country jumped on a frequent Midland Red bus to Bewdley, Kinver or The Malverns.

Here are some shots 47518 and other buses taken this morning in Crowngate bus station. the congratulatory message 'Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee' above the windows is in a shiny chromium-like finish which reflects like mirror.
