Worcester depot. 9-7-10.

Post by ANDREW » 11:55 Wednesday 13th September 2017

Looking through some old notes today , it appears that I had a visit to Padmore Street that day and noted the following "foreigners" - W312DWX/50281 , W313DWX/50282 , M221EAF/67301 , KP54AZU/68520 , WV02EUP/20514 , WV02EUR/20515 , T4FCC/10181 and T5FCC/10182. The first six all appeared to have operated for FMR , but does anyone know what the last two vehicles , both "bendi - buses", were doing there ?? :? Had Mechwr been asked to quote a price for converting them into 4 ordinary single deckers ?? :D

I looked at my photo records around 2010 and 2011 and came up with these, unfortunately none of the bendi-buses which apparently came from Somerset & Avon and later on worked on an Airport Link at Luton Airport - over to the experts on that!

The Bendy's were sent to Worcester for prep to be painted for the Luton Airport service which was run on the First Northamtpon license at the time, three vehicles came T3/4/5FCC. 10180/1/2 I believe, not 100% on those numbers.

The Bendy's were painted locally I believe and prepared for painting by Worcester (Sanding and Panel Replacements)

All three still operate on the Luton Shuttle, I use the service every few months, but they are now owned and operated by Go Ahead.

They were painted into a similar livery to the Streetcar's having arrived in Bath's Orange Uni Livery. T6FCC is a Streetcar, which also operates the shuttle but never came to Worcester. Nor did the lone B7L Y186HNH.

They were brought into Luton to replace 3 older Mercedes Citaros which I think went to Devon.

Thanks folks for the updates and pictures. I could only think that the buses were loaned to operate a shuttle service for a major event in the area. :)

This thread has been an interesting "retrospective", thanks everyone.

- unfortunately it is yet another reminder to some of us - "of a certain age" -
that time is passing-by at a ferocious rate !! :|
