69449

Post by DD12 » 14:28 Saturday 18th March 2023

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but according to the tracker, this one has not been used since November 26th, even though it's been repainted into "We are Worcester" livery.
IF correct does anyone know why / what's going-on ?

Thanks.

I was wondering this myself! (Was actually used up to the 7th December though if you click on the fleet no/reg) Has there been any actual sightings of it in new livery though? Maybe it has gone away for accident repair + repaint hence the delay?

I've just been on the Aldi carpark next to the "patch" -- where 69449 was parked, and it's still in SALT ROAD livery, and not in the "We are Worcester" as claimed on the tracker "fleet list".

Only visible was the rear panel-work which has a semi-matt finish, and no sign (or smell) of fresh paint, so it's not just been "re-done" !!

I believe it's named CERES, and if so, perhaps the confusion arose because astronomers have been confused about whether Ceres is a dwarf planet or an asteroid !

IF you wish to be further muddled, see also the thread "69453" !!

That was quick -- 69449 has just been corrected to Salt Road green, on the tracker !!

69449 is to or has received the engine from one of the 6669x Volvos, I think it was 66695, but don’t quote me on that. When there were several vehicles on the scrap lines, the electronic destination screens were removed, and 69449’s was removed in error at the same time. That is why it has been out of use for a long time. I will try to find out more details about when it will be finished.

Hi I'm back.... 69449 is indeed due to receive the engine from 66695 which I overhauled last year. Waiting on confirmation as to when I start back at Padmore street

Great news, hopefully your passport will be confiscated so you can’t bugger off for six months again in the Autumn!!!

Many thanks... got back to the UK on Wednesday but had already applied to come back whilst traveling in France. Job is available but the replies from the company are slow at the moment. Yes I'll start posting again as soon as I start back and keep you updated with progress.
Some of you know that I was going to work at Wythall for a couple of months before returning to Padmore street creating a new under frame ( I won't call it a chassis as it doesn't have one) for S14 4255 but alas this is no longer going to happen. Some of you know why but it's not for me to state the reasons on here. I'll find plenty of other things to play with.
The Austin A40 is my wifes car but she has decided to replace it with a Ford Ka as it has better heaters and a radio. We'll never part with it but it's got to the point where it needs a major restoration and the Hillman Hunter is on the road but desperately needs an engine overhaul. It's going to be a busy 6 months. Counting down to October when I'll be off to Portugal again...
