Thanks for putting this information on the site, it is interesting that Midland Red used a calendar as a marketing tool. Nice to see it featured buses and the parcels services delivered to final destination by bike. I believe a manager who retired fairly recently started his career with the company delivering parcels by this method.

I won't be bidding but enjoyed looking at this 80 year old document as currently trying to reduce the amount of memorabilia in my collection.

Do any of the large operators such as First Bus and Stagecoach produce the modern day equivalent? I still look forward to my copy of the Railway Mission calendar which sits on my 'office' wall - nice to have a printed one with selected railway photographs, rather than electronic version (assuming these exist!).

I can remember in the 1950's, Midland Red producing a fairly plain office type calendar, I assume mainly for their own use but they were also available I think free of charge if you asked nicely in one of the local enquiry offices, as we did in Richmond Road, Malvern Link.

They also produced for many years of course fleet list booklets for bus spotters which you had to send off to Bearwood for, again free of charge.

Unknown to me, my mother wrote off to the Publicity Department apparently asking if it would be possible for them to send a small supply of timetable leaflets as her young son, probably aged about 7 or 8 I would think, was very interested in such things. To our great surprise, a few days later one of the local inspectors turned up on our doorstep with a huge cardboard box full of timetable leaflets from all over the Midland Red area. Sadly, I don't remember what happened to them but I assume they were probably thrown out when my interest moved on to other things, albeit for a short while. If only I had kept them but it does show how important the company viewed its publicity and customer relations.

DRMbus produce a calendar every year and we normally receive a complimentary copy at Padmore Street depot, which hangs in the Commercial Office. I suspect that after the recent chilling of relations between the two companies First will have to buy their own for 2018.
