Re: FMR Mercedes Citaro acquisitions

Yes, I like that description a lot ( - but I didn't know that you're a rock fan Tim ) !! ;) Very much so in my dim and distant past, saw many 'heavy', progressive and blues bands live at such venues as Malvern Winter Gardens, The Wharf at Holt Fleet, The Coppertops and a place whose name I forget j...

Re: New round of disposals and transfers-out.

Ok, I’m just gonna throw this out there, will we be getting new buses to operate a possible route to the new train station I'm glad I'm not the only one who is wondering what will happen (in terms of buses/routes) when the new Station opens. :D  Is it still scheduled for an 'Early' 2019 openin...

New Coaches On Order

Along with 500 others on ten coaches, I attended the launch of Johnsons new holiday brochure at the National Memorial Arboretum yesterday. During the presentation, director John Johnson revealed that two new coaches had been ordered for delivery next April. He didn't say what make but the recent int...

Re: FMR Mercedes Citaro acquisitions

Like other enthusiasts, I find the variety of liveries now appearing of great interest but I do wonder whether the average passenger really cares a jot or, in many cases even notices or understands why his or her bus wears a particular livery. My feeling is that their main concern is still that ther...

Pretty good, I'd say, considering the state of the weather. Generally speaking, I prefer the more natural shots than the posed ones in the sort of perfect weather which we very rarely get anyway. Thanks, Tim.

Re: 100 Years of 144 celebration 15 October 2014

Brilliant photos, Tim, thank you. Also I couldn't agree more about keeping the 144 route number. In some ways only a shadow of its former self but will always be known in the area as the 144. and to change it would seem utterly pointless.

Re: Padmore Street in 1985

That's very kind, DD12, but it would have to be one of the smallest books ever written! Sadly, in my late teens, my interest in buses waned somewhat in favour of railways and the last days of steam. Some years later my bus interest revived but not before all my bus memorabilia, timetables etc as wel...

Re: Padmore Street in 1985

Amazing how many services were operated by what I would class as coaches, not service buses. Mind you it was a long time ago - I was 5  Passengers used to like it when a DP turned up on a service. It was classy..... Yes it was. Mind you, I can remember in the 1950's, to cover a shortage of sin...

Re: Kevs on the 318.

An elderly friend who has had to give up driving in the last few years living at Fairfield and totally dependent on buses tells me that Kev's is the best operator he has come across with drivers friendly, considerate and helpful, buses clean and comfortable and the service reliable and punctual.

Re: Johnsons in the news

I don't know about this particular location but we have recently holidayed in Norfolk and I can vouch for the fact that roadworks along several miles of the A14 in the Cambridge area are horrendous. On our way there the A14 was closed for the weekend in one place and, although the advance warning si...
