Re: £2.00 Fares
Stagecoach West is now taking part in this (except special services like Oxford Tube) but we were embargoed from telling anyone until the Government made their announcement in December. Even then, Stagecoach will not be promoting the offer until after it starts... I get the impression there isn't a ...

15 new double-decks for Stagecoach West
Most of you will have seen that Stagecoach (Group) have placed a large order for new buses this year. The reports say that Oxford will receive some, but in face it will be 15 vehicles going to Witney depot for their Service S1 into Oxford City Centre. Of the displaced Witney vehicles, 3 are being tr...

Re: £2.00 Fares
Bristol are also taking part in the scheme, but so far no other local authority in the Stagecoach West area have opted in. As far as I can see, nobody seems to have come up with a good exit strategy for this scheme. People will quickly learn to enjoy cheap fares on long distance route and it will be...

Re: Cut-backs in Gloucestershire
Bus and Coach Buyer report that Newport Buses will be operating two routes in Chepstow and Lydney. Correct. Their Service C4 will replace the 761 Chepstow to Beachley route with a slightly altered route, and their Service 72 will replace the Chepstow to Lydney section of the 24. Times are unchanged.

Re: "Reminiscent fleet numbers"
I guess having a single digit number makes JHA2 more desirable so the DVLA cashed in early and it's already been through the auctions. A quick search on the government website shows that number is indeed registered to the car I saw it on.

Re: "Reminiscent fleet numbers"
I saw a red Skoda near Chipping Norton today with registration number JHA2... correct colour but quite a bit smaller than an AEC.

Re: 20611
If the school service is run as a contract issued by Worcestershire County Council it is probably written into the contract that a vehicle with seatbelts must be used. This is WCC policy so most are. If the service is run commercially then it is up the the operator what vehicle they use.

Re: Cut-backs in Gloucestershire
All of the cut routes have - with the aid of Council Subsidies - been making a modest amount of money Stagecoach. The contracts are being surrendered due to staff shortages. GCC have invited other operators to bid for them, but so far the uptake has been slow because other local operators are suffer...
