Re: Improved services in 2025

Midland Red West used Nationals on several local Droitwich services around late 1984 early 1985 before the minibuses arrived in 1986. I remember driving a circular route alongside the railway west of Chawson to Westlands, or Boycott as it was originally known. It is so long ago that I don't recall a...

Re: Victorian Fayre 2024 via new route ?

Strange that a 12 minute headway can be operated on Saturday and a 15 minute headway on the Sunday in both directions when it suits the Company and Worcs. C.C. especially as First Bus no longer operate the 37 stage carriage service up Ombersley Road. Add in that Diamond don't run the 303 on a Sunday...

Re: 303 in the snow Tuesday 19 Nov 2024

It still looks odd to me seeing buses go in both directions along that road! Yes it took some getting used to, and makes for a difficult chicane of turns at far end of Grange Avenue, plus an awkward pick-up with all the parked cars opposite the previous Northwick Green stop. At least we still have ...

Re: First Midland Brown buses

I followed a 32 down Bath Road the other day, it was shocking how dirty it was. Mind you it hides the battered state of skirts and front lower corner panels of most of the ex-South Wales Enviro 200s and 300s. What a difference to the days of Midland Red West under Nationalised and private own...

First Midland Brown buses

We used to have clean green buses working the 144 when it went into the Second City, I couldn't help but be amazed, horrified even, when seeing one of the ex-Welsh 'Clippers' on the 144, in Barbourne, looking like a long brown van with filthy dark brown road dirt right up to the roof. I doubt that t...

Vocal passenger address system

I travelled on the 36 service from Crowngate to Worcestershire Royal Hospital on Saturday worked by one of the ex-Welsh E200 single deckers which loudly advised those on board the names of every stop, so from Crowngate "The next Stop is Foregate Street Station, then The Tything, then Little Lon...

Re: Midland Red 120 event 6 Oct. 2024 at Wythall

Thanks, it looks as though the healing process is working, but another endoscopy in six week's time. There is somebody we both knew who would have been very pleased that 4255 and 5073 were out on the road on Sunday, albeit 4255 on demonstration runs only; I refer to the late Bob Sim who saved both b...

Re: Midland Red 120 event 6 Oct. 2024 at Wythall

Yes, thanks for posting Reddibus, I was unable to make this event (saving my strength for a nice endoscopy as an outpatient this morning - nil by mouth 6 hours before procedure!) so it is good to have a record of the vehicles on show and giving rides, great to see so many Midland Red buses and coach...

Re: HST 'Castle' at Shrub Hill.

Yesterday, Monday 30 September 2024, a de-branded HST 'Castle' set with 43094 and 43122 passed through Worcester Shrub Hill platform one en route from Plymouth Laira depot to the Severn Valley Railway, presumably to take part in their Autumn Diesel Bash from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 October 2024. DSCF...
