Re: Birmingham Event, Wythall

Thank you Tim for the latest WYTHALL photos. I have seen your photos on previous occasions but have not commented. I lived, as a youngster, in Shirley but left in 1954 for Devon. Consequently my interest stopped at that time with my allegiance switched to Devon General. The MR service 179 was a loca...

Re: Midland Red song

I am curious about The Midland Red Concert Orchestra.
I have not heard of any recordings expect one that I heard introducing a video of The RED presumably produced for Wythall.
I would be interested in any information.

Re: Twilight Running Pt. 2 at Wythall 27 October 2018.

Pleasing to see these two posts of Wythall. Quite a few brought memories - mainly those pre 1960 types. A Gash's Daimler was mentioned in the text. I had the pleasure of riding on one of their Daimlers some while ago at one of the London Transport Societies open days.

Re: Transport Museum, Wythall Sunday 1 April 2018 part two.

Thank you for the Wythall photos of the Easter Weekend. All of them were of interest and worth seeing but naturally there were some which bring back memories of them when they were in regular service. In particular I single out the two Royal Blue coaches which were always seen in South Devon on the ...

Re: Steam locos and DD12s !

A few years ago there was a gathering at the NRM York of the six A4 class locomotives. I was fortunate to be able to visit the NRM whilst they were on display. I particularly wanted to see the two that were shipped here from the Americas. Dwight D Eisenhower is from Green Bay, Wisconsin and many of ...

King Class 6023, the blue liveried one, and indeed Tornado are at the Severn Valley Railway Spring steam gala this coming weekend..
I am with the late Sir Felix Pole here: don't want to see a blue King! :D
I have seen Tornado quite a few times however.

Re: Steam locos and DD12s !

Locomotive 6023 was a GWR 4-6-0 King class, King Edward II built in 1930 and spent most of its national network career based at Newton Abbot in Devon. It always carried number 6023 even after nationalization in 1948. Locomotive 60103 (formerly LNER 4472 ) Flying Scotsman a class A3 Pacific 4-6-2 bui...

Re: Another Acquisition

Good to see Yeomans name still about in transport circles. I guess they have come a long way since I travelled on their buses from Hereford town to Credenhill (RAF) station. They had a few veterans in use in those mid 1950's days.

Re: Stagecoach in Paignton Monday 3 July 2017.

Stagecoach Devon recently introduced new buses in Torbay. Most (17 I think) are in the new white/two-tone red and the other five in corporate livery. The new colours do look very smart. I had the opportunity to ride on a couple of them the other day. Although I do not use WiFi outdoors I am sure for...
