Just seen the new double deckers for Stratford garage on Tony Hunter's site: west-midlands-buses.fpic.co.uk

Very impressive, I had no idea these were due, wonder which route they will be put on.

Great info. thankyou.
Shame about Stagecoach's livery!  There are four in the rear-end photo, but are any to stay at Stratford?
Also their rear-overhangs look a bit long -  can any double-deck drivers tell us if this is a problem?

i heard (and seen pictures) from another site about 2 weeks ago that they are for 26's or 28's.

this will probably displace tridents to olympian routes possibly

from what i understand there will be 5 enviros to replace 5 tridents, id then assume they would replace the step volvo olympian to rugby to replace leyland olys, but i believe there are more than just 5 enviros for stagey warwickshire as they want the whole fleet low floor by 2010-2011

Either that or take the east kent (canterbury) model of moving tridents to unibus duties from the now Scania route then put the branded volvo olympians replaceing Leyland ones. (that's my guess anyway)

e.g. Scania enviros go on 28. tridents off 28 go to u1. volvo olympians from u1 go to rugby. Leyland olympians get replaced by volvos.

In the new issue of Buses magazine there is an article about the new Governments cancellation of the Kickstart funding programme. It says that amongst the schemes was the X119(?) Stratford-Coventry. So perhaps these buses were Stagecoach's contribution to that?

If so, lets hope Stagecoach now don't get cold feet and move these buses away somewhere else.

Looking on the Stagecoach website, the new buses will start on the 28 from Monday. The current buses on the route will be refurbished and cascaded onto other Leamington/Stratford services.

I wonder how they'll split the remaining low-floor deckers between Leamington and Stratford depots. They've probibly got enough now to make the 15, 16, 18 and 26 all low-floor if they wanted. Also, getting them onto the U17 on a Sunday would make sense as well.

There are 4 more Scanias to be delivered. It is expected that they and the two newer Tridents will be used mainly on Services X15/18 (Coventry-Leamington-Stratford) from September. The original 3 Tridents, not the most reliable of vehicles, will be moving to Leamington and probably used on the University routes. Stagecoach would love to replace all the high-floor 'deckers in the Warwickshire area by 2010-11 but, barring miracles, this is pretty unlikely. Even with this influx of low floor buses, from the start of autumn term there will still be about 20 high floor 'decker bus workings across Warwickshire (excluding the Open Top tour buses).
