Can anyone explain why Thomas Morris bought D9`s, did he know someone at BMMO or were they sold at such a good price they were to good to miss also how did he overcome the spares problem for what was such a unique vehicle.
According to Mike Greenwood and Steve Richards' excellent new publication on the bus Thomas Morris bought six D9's in Sept 1974. David Morris the son knew the Chief Engineer at Carlyle works and visited the stores to buy parts off them. However by the end of 1976 they had all been withdrawn. The drivers experienced problems with the brakes.
If I remember correctly it was The Style Council, Paul Wellers' band after The Jam, and the song was "Long Hot Summer" which reached Number three in August 1983
